Frying Pan Patkins – Wangarang: Between my keyboards, Ed’s guitar and loud microphone stand movement, and Brian’s vocals, this is the stuff of legend. No drugs were used in the making of this song. Frying Pan Patkins is actually Jonathan Atkins, a flamboyant small black kid from our high school.

be glad it's not taking me a year and a half to do this, only a few weeks.

List five songs that you are currently digging... it doesn't matter what genre they are from, whether they have words or even if they're any good but they must be songs you're really enjoying right now. 1) "Only To Other People" by The Cookies... extremely poorly recorded song, but it's annoyingly catchy. and sung by 3 black women in the early 1960's, whats not to love?
2) "Quicksand" by David Bowie... just a good song.
3) "Big Sur" by The Beach Boys... because I'm very lazy and don't change the CD in my car very often and it's the first song on the CD.
4) "At Last I Am Born" by Morrissey... probably one of the dumber songs on his new CD, but I've played most of the rest of the CD to death so much that this song still feels more fresh.
5) "Redemption" by Blood Sweat & Tears... even though Paul hates the voice of David Clayton-Thomas, the horns and drums are rather rocking in this tune.

But seriously... I'm in London, England for those of you that don't know yet! And boy have I been taking the city by storm. A storm that has trouble walking through non-turning turnstiles, but a storm nonetheless. For the purposes of this entry, the british monetary unit pound will be abbreviated as "lb." or "lbs." I weigh myself in money. I'm staying with Paul who is interning in parliament and it's been a pretty fun time. So far I've been to: Tower of London, various bridges, The National Art Museum, Buckingham Palace, Hamley's, Harrods, a malaysian restaurant, a couple pubs, the Odeon movie theatre, a grocery store, some public toilets, a McDonald's, a Starbucks, and probably other places. Oh and this egyptian statue that the british stole. That was a highlight. Have not yet peed in the Thames.

Random Thoughts/Observations:

The 1 lb. being a coin and not papermoney is unbelievably annoying. As most of you know, I abhor metal currency. A pocket full of 1 lb. coins is a nightmare! So for the first days of the trip I only bought things with paper money causing me to receive an insane amount of change. Wonderful. Then at the Odeon movie theatre, the cashier inexplicably gives me a metric ton of change of various denominations. Rage. I'm just gonna dump it on the desk at the Travelex in Philly when I get back and let them sort out it's worth.

The way the woman's voice on the tube speaker system says "Willesden Green" is amazing.

British women I think are quite attractive. Pale skin, very little makeup... I'm in heaven! Steve Jordan would cry. I still have not met the Orbit gum commercial girl.

TV is pretty odd. Although they have this word descrambling show which was awesome. Except for the part where they solve math problems. Americans don't like math unless they're Asians. Lot's of those over here, it's like Japan didn't fight the British in World War II or something. Go figure.

The service employees at various stores talk unusually quitely it seems to me. I'm always having to strain to hear what people are saying to me. I don't think it's the accent, they just talk like shy mice on ambien. That or my hearing is really starting to go. I just kind've guess what they're telling me and sometimes get it wrong, sometimes get it right.
